Linn County 4-H/FFA Fair ~ Part 2

Whew!  What a last couple of weeks.  Full of ups and downs. Many more ups than downs!  When I look back I think what a wonderful last few weeks of memories.  We had fun, met new people, got to know others more and learned how to a few new things along the way.

We learned how to load and haul the cattle in our horse trailer... that's what we have so we made it work.  I learned that cattle like to turn around and not back out of the trailer as easily as the horse.

Hannah enjoyed showing her steer.  We are so very thankful for friends for showing us how to clip and fit the cattle.

Jacob had an experience to write on paper application, his projects and accomplishments that were reviewed by judges that did not know his name. His 4-H Fair Prince application was reviewed and his application was given a number. He was shocked to have been picked for prince of the fair, but he performed his duties well and had fun.

The last week was full of hard work, sweet and learning new activities.  Hannah and Jacob both showed their chickens, rabbits and cattle.  I view all of these activities just another extension of our homeschool.  Each day getting up early to take care of the animals by feeding, watering and washing them when necessary, tells me that they are hard workers who take their project seriously.

I would encourage anyone looking to help their kids gain confidence, work ethic, empathy, or all of these important life lessons, to look to 4-H.  4-H gives them the opportunity to gain these all year long!
