Canning and Grandma Bailey

Mom and I managed to can 21 quarts of whole tomatoes and stewed tomatoes. We chopped and sliced bell peppers and onions for the stewed tomatoes. The smells filled the house, which the kids and hubby loved.  While canning and waiting for the pressure to rise, I found my paternal grandmother’s trivet.  I miss her and her witty advice. I hope she'd be proud of the tomatoes.

Kids decided to bring out a table and nail a simple cardboard sign to the stop sign that is approximately 1.5 miles to the west. FRESH PRODUCE.  Given that we live almost in the middle of Nowhere Ville, USA they didn’t get much traffic.  They did go into this know it ahead of time, but they entertained themselves while they waited, and waited and well didn’t sell a thing.  Although they didn’t sell anything today they said they will try again tomorrow.
Our neighbor, who was working on harvesting beans, saw their sign and table with the produce on it.  They didn’t stop immediately but we were told later that they love their entrepreneurial ideas.  I am thankful to God that I have the opportunity to give the kids, opportunities to learn and fail, and in the end, help them win.
