Homeschool Legacy: Many Nations ~Review

History is a favorite in our homeschool so being able to review Many Nations from Homeschool Legacy was a real treat!
Homeschool Legacy is a curriculum company owned by Sharon Gibson.  Sharon’s homeschool philosophy is “due to the engaging and interactive nature of unit studies, they helped bring our family together, provided a lifetime of precious memories, and helped us build a strong, loving, Godly, family legacy.”  I completely agree with her.  Micro-and Unit studies are a wonderful way to break up the homeschool year and make memories while learning.
Many Nations is a Once-a week micro study geared toward Grades 1-8. The colorful e-book engages students while educating about Native Americans, their lives before Europeans, and where they live in relation to others.

These micro studies are creative, hands-on assignments which help you make history learning fun!
Homeschool Legacy has a concept of creating a cross-curricular approach to learning which weaves multiple subjects into Native American History.
Children will gain a thorough understanding of the material learnt in an easy to download format you can access anytime.  The micro-studies suggest outstanding classic and award-winning read-alouds. We read Sing Down The Moon last year in our homeshcool and it was one of our favorites.

These Once-a-Week Micro-Studies engage the whole family. It allows you the freedom to consolidate by teaching all your children the same topic at the same time.

Once-a-Week Micro-Studies come only in a digital format. Due to this format, the company incorporates quality educational links to enhance your children’s learning experience.

Many Nations micro study incorporates an assortment of multi-sensory assignments; they also accommodate multiple learning styles. They can even be helpful in meeting the needs of special needs children and those with learning disabilities, because of the hands-on way of learning. Hands on learning helps improve long-term memory recall. Children are not going to forget about Indians after they construct a model of an Indian dwelling. They will never forget it and talk about subjects for years to come. They will almost certainly forget them if they read only a paragraph about them in a text book.

Lastly, the flexibility of unit studies gives us the freedom to delve as little or as deeply as we want into a particular topic. Many Nations allowed us to tailor our family’s educational needs and interests. For example, when Hannah and Jacob were intrigued with a tribe, we learned more about certain ones. We found the higher the interest level, the easier they were to teach, and the more they retained. Each of them could focus on a particular portion they were most interested in.

We highly recommend all of Homeschool Legacy Unit and Micro studies after reviewing Many Nations. This once a week- micro study has opened our eyes to the wonderful legacy we are leading our children through to homeschool their own children in a positive fun learning environment.
